“Despite the harassment, arrests and suppression we received from the Fascist Cannes Film Festival, the Cannes trade screenings of Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High AKA Vol.2 was a huge success! The film received great reviews even though the elites at Cannes marked my 50th year of movie making by shoving my face in shit.” stated Lloyd Kaufman, President of Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger, whose been attending Cannes Film Festival since 1976. “I will never go back to Fascist Cannes Film Festival. Vichy and P étain have won the day!”
Troma Entertainment, the longest running truly independent film company in American history, presented exclusive trade screenings of Lloyd Kaufman’s highly anticipated, long awaited second installment of his two-part event film, Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High AKA Vol.2 at the prestigious Arcades 3 cinema in Cannes, France on May 23rd, 2017. A third “encore” screening was added due to over flowing crowds and rave reviews, it was announced today by Lloyd Kaufman, President of Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger.
7 years in the making, Return to Return to Nuke’ Em High aka Vol.2 is the “Best Troma Movie Ever Made!”
Toxie, Sgt. Kabukiman and The Troma Team arrived in Cannes on May 19th and was instantly slapped around and arrested by thugs in suits joined by police. The Troma Team marched on the Croisette to protest media consolidation and promote the necessity of net neutrality to independent art and commerce. Troma Parades, the Cannes Zombie Walk, and the legendary Troma Party brought the 43 year-old company constant police interference. “There is no security in this festival.” said Bjarni Gautur, a Troma volunteer from Iceland who was turned away by cops from walking on the Croisette because he was wearing a Troma T-shirt.
As Jonathan Barkan from dreadcentral.com reported, ” While it would seem that a film festival would be the best place for a film studio to have some fun, it would appear that this is no longer the case. Lloyd Kaufman and several people marching and holding signs in support of Troma have apparently been accosted by local authorities, who shut down their parade.”

Lloyd Kaufman calms the conflict between Fascist Cannes Film Festival Thugs, the French Police, and the Troma Team
Although this collision with the French Police has become another nail in the coffin of indie art and commerce and in the Troma/Cannes history, the real impact Kaufman and The Troma Team left on the film festival had everything to do with critical acclaim received by Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High AKA Vol.2. The three screenings held at the Arcades 3 cinema from May 23rd-25th were open to buyers and members of the press who were attending the festival. Each screening was as successful as the last as the attendance and lines grew longer and longer to see the film.
“Early reviews for the film have been stellar and show that not all mainstream critics are in the mouse’s pocket.” stated Lloyd Kaufman.
One such review came from RogerEbert.com by film critic Simon Abrams, ” This is the world Kaufman has made, a nightmarishly goofy reflection of a society ruled by government-enabled greed, and corporate malfeasance. This might be Kaufman’s angriest polemic yet, and it’s consequently his looniest. Bless him and Troma for making a movie that’s so aggressively unclean.”
