A little background: Troma Entertainment is behind many of the films I had to trick video clerks into selling to me when I was under age. The Toxic Avenger, Class of Nuke ‘Em High and Surf Nazis Must Die are Troma films that many people in my generation had to see, and a lot of the appeal of their films is the feeling that you’re watching something you’re not supposed to. His influence also extends to some of the biggest names in the film biz. Take it from a guy who would know:
Lloyd’s body of work has now proven to be a seminal influence on film today. Just look at any film created by the likes of Quentin Tarantino, Takashi Miike, Peter Jackson, Eli Roth, Gasper Noé, and James Gunn, to name a few, and you are likely watching a film influenced Class of Nuke ‘Em High, Tromeo & Juliet, or Citizen Toxie.â€

It’s hard to not be impressed by Lloyd’s drive to make the films he wants on his own terms. There seem to be few, if any, subjects Lloyd would shy away from which is actually not too different from the daily experience here at the Twisted Pixel office.
